Crowdsourcing is a large concept and holds great power. Producers and owners of content seek to address "their audience"... their crowd... their fans.
While methods can be employed to automatically winnow content by interests, never forget:
FANS are the ultimate arbiter of what is GOOD.
Maybe they use some tools to filter through the OCEAN OF CONTENT but they are the ones who decide what content is GOOD and what is not, what rises to the top to be seen and what remains hidden below the surface.
Fans demand "performances" and "performers" prefer to play to friendly audiences.
Encouraging the crowd, engaging fans, and cultivating that community is a long term, mutuallly beneficial arrangement. True win-win.
